As
an Indigenous student, how do you start on the path to leadership?
Gerald Bent offers insight into how to take the first steps toward
leadership, finding your passions, getting involved, and tips on
maintaining a healthy Medicine Wheel along the way. Gerald is a
Correctional Programs Officer and Indigenous Educator, Two-Spirit,
Status Indian and a member of the Lytton Indian Band, which is located
in the traditional territory of the Nlakapamux nation.
Claiming
Spaces is a collaborative project between Inspiring Women Among Us (at
the University of British Columbia), the Federation of Canadian
Municipalities’ Toward Parity in Municipal Politics program and the City
of Prince George. Aiming to engage and support youth from marginalized
groups to enter leadership positions, Claiming Spaces provides publicly
accessible resources and videos sharing experiences and insights from
inspiring Canadian leaders.
